2025 Art Lives On Project
Thomson Family Park
Through the Rotary Flames House and Alberta Children's Hospital, I've met so many incredible, resilient families.
We are all carrying on as best as we can while grieving the loss of a child.
To celebrate our children and support families, we are commissioning the 2025 Art Lives On project in Thomson Family Park.
An existing mural in the park is at the end of its serviceable life. Calgary Arts Development is graciously granting us access to memorialize our children in this location, and providing grant funding to cover supplies and artist fees.
The Location
- Centrally located at 1236 16 Ave SW, in the Beltline, Calgary.
- There are picnic tables, a playground, and skating in the winter.
- After the project is completed, this will make a wonderful pilgrimage location.
- Keep coming back for quiet contemplation, sit with your feelings, and spend time with your departed children at any time of the year.
Timeline
UPDATED
- March 2025 - project approval from Calgary Arts Development
- End September 2025 - registration for families has been extended!
- Fall/Winter 2025 - design workshops with artists and families
- Spring 2026 - mural painting
